We’re sure there are tons of people in the fashion industry who vote Republican, but Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour certainly isn’t one of them. La Wintour was name checked on a list of over 400 people billed as the top fundraisers for President Barack Obama‘s reelection campaign, and as with everything else she does, she’s right near the top.
The list, released by the Obama campaign yesterday, breaks down top fund bundlers at a four levels — those who raised from $50,000 to $100,000, $100,000 to $200,000, $200,000 to $500,000 and $500,000 and up. According to the list, Wintour is one of several Obama supporters who raised over $500,000 for the campaign last year, and considering all those well-attended fundraising dinners she threw for him and for First Lady Michelle Obama here in the city (to say nothing of the designers she’s gotten to design things for the campaign store), that’s not all that surprising. Movie moguls Harvey Weinstein and Jeffrey Katzenberg join Wintour on the list of people who have bundled over half a million dollars for the campaign, but we didn’t see any other notable fashion people there. (There’s a guy named Terry Richardson who managed to raise somewhere between $50,000 and $100,000, but he’s from Barnwell, SC, so we don’t think it’s the photographer.)
All in all there were 61 people who managed to raise over half a million dollars for the president, and when you figure in other donations, the top fundraisers collection $75 million for the campaign last year.
