Anna Wintour isn’t just an outfit repeater, she’s an incredibly specific one.
Last night the Vogue editor-in-chief attended the State Dinner at the White House to honor British Prime Minister David Cameron. She wore a Chanel gown that looked exceedingly familiar, and then we remembered. She wore the very same spring 2009 couture gown to the 2009 Met Gala. The dress is distinctive with its graphic black-and-white scale pattern, and it looks really lovely on Wintour. But what’s up with wearing the same memorable dress to two high profile events?
Well, Wintour is a pro at this kind of outfit repeating. Last year the British Obama supporter attended the China State Dinner wearing…a Chanel dress she had previously worn to a high profile fashion event (in this case, the CFDA Awards). An odd tradition, indeed! We think this Chanel State Dinner pick was way more appropriate than her last Chanel State Dinner pick, and if the woman knows what works, she may as well stick with it. That said, Wintour quite literally has every single dress in the world at her disposal — we’d love to see her mix it up a bit more.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
