We’ve been wondering for months what the fashion pages at Glamour would look like in new executive fashion director Anne Christensen‘s capable hands. The glossy’s editor-in-chief Cindi Leive told WWD that we should know by this March.
That’s the issue in which Christensen’s mark on Glamour will begin to show. Since she landed her job there last summer after leaving T Magazine, she’s been hard at work raising the magazine’s fashion profile (which we at Styleite once referred to as a “denim and polka dots aesthetic”), hiring Bruce Weber, adding more fashion pages, new columns and even a Tumblr (just like Vogue!)
But WWD notes that the additions Christensen is making to the magazine aren’t just cosmetic — they mean pretty big business for a magazine that’s already among the top performing horses in the Conde Nast stable.
With Christensen, there’s more fashion than ever before, with 17 percent more fashion pages in March, and April’s issue will have 26 percent more than the same issue a year ago. Overall ad pages for March are also up 17 percent.
Naturally, we’re pretty excited about that — we’ve been missing Christen’s magic touch ever since she left T and started freelancing for publications that print their stories in languages we don’t speak. The March issue should be on newsstands in the next few weeks.
