23-year-old Arizona Muse is certainly living up to her last name. In the past year and a half, the Arizona (ha) native has taken the fashion world by storm.
Her legs have walked the runways for the likes of Prada, Versace, and Chanel Couture, and her face has graced multiple covers of domestic and international issues of Vogue. Dazed and Confused also dedicated an issue entirely to her — seriously, if that’s not all kinds of awesome, we don’t know what is.
But perhaps the most surprising thing about Muse is that she became a mother before a big-time model. She signed with Next Models and booked a few small gigs before deciding on motherhood in 2009. She came back to the catwalk a year later. We know from experience that it’s hard to get an interview with the model, but The Telegraph managed to chat with the model about her situation:
“I think the others were established before they had children. I had a child and then became established, which I would not recommend doing! I highly recommend getting your career established first and then having children.”
But Muse also notes that having a baby resulted in a better body:
“I think my body was better after I had a child, actually. I prefer my body now to what it was like before I had Nikko — although I exercise now and I didn’t then. I remember my mom saying that after you have a baby you get really thin. So you gain all that weight and then you just lose it and keep losing it. You’re breastfeeding and you’re busy and you’re tired… so that helped. That was conveniently timed.”
Oh, and fun fact: Muse now handwashes her underwear because she received a hotel laundry bill for about $800. She’s beautiful and frugal.
