Bernard Arnault's App For Belgian Citizenship Likely To Be Rejected

LVHM Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton CEO Bernard Arnault has run into some problems with his rather controversial Belgian citizenship application, and it is not likely to be approved.

According to Vogue UK, Arnault’s application will probably be rejected because he has not lived in Belgium for the required three years. He applied in September, not long after French President François Hollande decided to impose a 75 percent income tax on French citizens making €1 million or more (Arnault fits comfortably in this tax bracket, being the country’s richest man with an annual income of €32 million). However, Arnault has denied rumors that he plans to move to avoid the new high taxes. He also sued French newspaper Libération for public insult following a headline they published that read ”Get lost, rich idiot!” about Arnault and his plans to apply for Belgian citizenship.
