The First Everest Expedition Was 60 Years Ago Today; Celebrate It With Snuggly Boots

bally everest collection

Bally’s latest collection will make you feel like you’re on top of the world. How exactly?

Well, in case you didn’t know, today marks the 60th anniversary of the first man who ever made it to the top of Mount Everest. This man was Sherpa Tenzing Norgay (who was there to accompany Sir Edmund Hillary), and he was wearing Bally Reindeer-Himalaya boots the whole way up.

The Swiss shoe company’s Everest capsule collection is an ode to the monumental journey and features a new Himalaya centerpiece style that is based on the original boots Norgay wore. The line also includes the marmot fur Vilmos ski boots and waterproof alpine Vincens (modeled after boots worn by the accompanying expedition team).

For lucky Brits, the styles are available beginning today at Bally’s New Bond Street store in London. Unfortunately for the rest of the world, we’ll have to wait until September, when the entire Everest collection, including bags and outerwear for both men and women, hits stores everywhere. Our personal Everest is getting through a shortened workweek that weirdly feels twice as long. Whatever yours, these boots might help you weather the schlep.
