PHOTOS: The French First Ladies Celebrate Bastille Day In Style

Yesterday was Bastille Day, and the French celebrated La Fête Nationale in style, once again illustrating that they are the most chic human beings on the planet. The military ceremony in Paris marked the first Bastille Day for President François Hollande, who oversaw the events alongside Prime Minister Jean Marc Ayrault. The first lady—now that Carla Bruni is out, we’re keeping our eye on Hollande’s domestic partner Valérie Trierweiler—also attended, taking in the festivities with Ayrault’s wife Brigitte. The ladies honored the memory of the storming of the Bastille by (quite literally) placing themselves firmly in the trenches, so to speak. The gentlemen both wore suits Don Draper would be proud of, and all of it left us craving a lengthy trip to Paris. Café crème, pan au chocolate, et la mode, anyone?

Check out their looks…
