PHOTOS: The Best & Worst Of The BET Awards Red Carpet

The 2013 BET Awards seem to be about the duets. First, the show was opened by a surprise pairing of America’s most hated hip-pop star, Chris Brown, plus bubblegum-splosion Nikki Minaj. Kendrick Lamar — who has already taken home the Best New Artist award — was joined on stage by the queen of psychotic hip hop, Ms. Erykah Badu herself (luckyyyy). El Debarge seems like he might be on a hot date with some narcotics, but it’s the sartorial mashups that caught our eyes.

A favorite ever since we blasted her album en route to highschool, Eve showed up in a bodycon peachy pink number and standout blue sandals that scream Wonder Woman. Her platinum bob makes us almost ready to see another Beauty Shop sequel (almost). Angela Bassett rocked an electrical-socket inspired spiky hairdo a la Miley Cyrus at the Met Gala, with an understated yet avant-garde black top. The crossover bust line that swirls into a loop around her neck is a standout, and one that we’d like to introduce to our wardrobes before holiday party season kicks into gear.

In the surprising and/or sad style camp is Lil’ Mama, whose hair looks like it spent the weekend with us in swampy, humid DC rather than perfect-always-LA, and one Twitter commenter said her dress looked like it came from Forever 21 — we actually think it’s kind of elegant, but okay. Amber Rose wore an uncharacteristically modest A-line in bumble bee colors which we don’t love, but it’s nice to see her switching things up. Plus, her practically extraterrestrial face and hair are flawless as always — seriously, what is that lipstick color?

Check out these looks and more in the gallery below, and let us know who was your fave of the night. It’s okay if you say R. Kelly.
