Let us just say this: the reason Beyonce doesn’t look pregnant on the November cover of Harper’s Bazaar isn’t because she’s faking her pregnancy. It’s because she posed for the cover long before she ever started to show.
In fact, Terry Richardson took the cover shot — and the photos in the magazine — in July, weeks before the world would be introduced to Pregnance at the MTV Video Music Awards. In the coordinating interview, done just after the singer made the announcement of her pregnancy, she (of course) talks about her marriage and her career. She also talks about the maternity line she’s designing with her mother Tina Knowles‘s fashion line, the House of Dereon:
“All I see now are clothes that are flattering on a pregnant woman,” she says. “It’s been so exciting for me! I love figuring out designs that still make me feel edgy and sexy while pregnant. Flowy fabrics are always flattering,” she says, “but I still rock my stilettos.”
Opportunistic, you say? Damn right, we respond. Who says a walking entertainment empire should stop generating revenue just because she’s with child?
Take in the rest of the interview, which includes glowing quotes from fashion people who love King B (Azzedine Alaïa, for example, claims he can do all the steps to “Single Ladies”) here, and check out some of the photos below.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
