Are you still waiting around for another reason to go see Black Swan? Because the movie is a thrilling and deeply psychological masterwork that explores the mind of a troubled young woman obsessed with being absolutely perfect.
It also has really cool costumes.
In this video, costume designer Amy Westcott and Kate Mulleavy and Laura Mulleavy of Rodarte discuss how the costumes are as important to the story as, well, everything else in the movie. Every garment helps reveal a little more about the character, from Natalie Portman‘s innocent pink tweed coat to the slinky black everything that Mila Kunis struts and jattes around in.
And then there are the Rodarte ballet costumes, which are absolutely nothing like what you might have seen a ballerina wear on stage (even if they weren’t entirely functional). We defy you, fashion lovers and cinematic stragglers, to watch this video and not be inspired to leap out of your office and into the nearest multiplex.
