Forget her wardrobe of self-styled ensembles, forget her hundreds of pairs of Louboutins, forget even the costumes she wears on Gossip Girl. Blake Lively might be an avid collector of fashion, but her real passion is collecting art.
Yes, art, that stuff people make and sell and then you hang it on your wall? That stuff. Lively tells Artlog that while she’s only been collecting for a few years, she does it hungrily, and tries to bring back something from everywhere she goes. Lively has paintings from SCAD students in Savannah, antique mirrored doors from India, mass produced canvases from Urban Outfitters and everything in between — and beyond.
So what, you may be asking, catches Miss Lively’s eye when she buys a piece of art? The
actress collector explains:
I’ve found that I’m often drawn to pieces that portray a childish imagination with a malevolent undertone, like the moment on the boat in Willy Wonka when all the fantasy turns on itself into the unexpected. In every piece I own there is a sense of celebration, whether in image, context, or color.
Her choices are colorful, all right. Take a look at a few pieces from her collection here.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
