The Cannes Film festival shows the movies we can’t stop talking about, and celebrates the stars who outshine even themselves year after year (see: Nicole Kidman and Paz Vega, for a start). Today, it was refreshing to see a group of girls, nascent in their Hollywood lives, take to a red carpet like seasoned pros.
At the festival’s premiere of The Bling Ring, Emma Watson and her cronies came as synchronized as watches and smiling like they just stepped into a dream (they pretty much did). 23-year-old Watson seriously upped the ante on her somewhat blah photocall outfit in a bustier-topped, black-and-white (and maybe sequinned) Chanel Spring 2013 Couture gown. From her triad of diamond cuff earrings down to the trumpet hem of the dress, her look was as well-honed as the early reviews say her performance comes off in the film.
Tessa Fariga wore an off-white gown with mesh sides exposing what looks like a leather bandeau, joining a small and elite group of stars who’ve stepped out in Valentino’s Fall 2013 collection. But If we’re choosing a Cinderella – the luckiest girl at the ball – we’d go with Claire Julien, a relative unknown who burst on the scene in a bespoke blush Emilio Pucci with a fishtail hem that just won’t quit (bridal inspo, anyone?).
Surely there were some seminal stylists at work here, but the color coordination among the castmakes is so expertly handled, we don’t doubt their ability to toss over a mansion or two in cahoots. We hope the Hotel du Cap Eden Roc has strong locks.

this is some kind of spaceship or something.
