Despite Cate Blanchett’s lack of baby-to-be, her maternity chic Balenciaga number was a tough act to follow, but opting for Alexander McQueen is always good for keeping up momentum. The Blue Jasmine star hit the red carpet in a black-and-white McQueen gown which was both form-fitting and had a drop waist, something we didn’t even know was possible (especially after poring through these roaring ’20s editorials). Following Blanchett in the austere chic department was Rose Byrne in a Christopher Kane Resort 2014 white cotton broderie dress that was equal parts sleek and ladylike.
Next up was hate-her-because-she’s-dating-Henry-Cavill, Kaley Cuoco, who made us loathe her all the more in a chic Zimmermann Fall 2013 blue floral embroidery short set and purple suede Manolo Blahniks. If she keeps this up, her enemy list will grow tenfold. Then there was AJ Michalka who looked more grown up than we could have ever imagined after watching Disney Channel original movie Cow Belles, and donned what appeared to be a vintage midi dress that looks like it was swiped from Joan Harris off the Mad Men set, and naturally we love it for that fact alone.
Last and sadly least, was Ali Fedotowsky, in a boring color-block mini, who has floored us with the fact that she’s landed a role in Woody Allen’s latest flick. If this what lies in the future of a former Bachelorette, sign us up.
