Sorry, Nikki Reed – Bonnie McKee has officially usurped your unofficial 7-11 Slurpee Ambassador crown. “American Girl” is the first single from McKee’s debut album, and after releasing a viral star-studded video last month she’s dropped the glossy version in all its bubblegum glory.
McKee is the brains behind eight number one singles including Katy Perry’s “Teenage Dream” and was named Rolling Stone’s “Best Secret Weapon”, so you’d better believe she knows the ingredients that go in to creating a guilty pleasure. And apparently one of those ingredients is dressing like a Nasty Gal model at Ultra Music Festival. In the space of five seconds we counted: A spiked bra, purple lipstick, butt-baring short shorts, multiple crop tops, quadruple-layered bling, acid wash, and My Little Pony hair that would look right at home on the head of Chloe Nørgaard.
This video will fix an afternoon slump better than jumbo-sized frozen drink (even if you take it McKee style, spiked with booze and consumed on the curb of a 7-11 parking lot). Watch it below and get ready to feel a weird mix of repulsion and unabashed patriotism.
Of course there are more mature ways to celebrate America, but this does look like fun.
