Takhar had been the brand’s CEO since it relaunched in 2007, but Page Six reports that creative differences among Halston’s top brass made it difficult for people to get along. Everyone, that is, but Takhar and Jessica Parker, who has been chief creative officer since this January. Takhar broke the news to her friend just last week, and the layoff became official yesterday.
Sources say Jessica Parker saw this coming, though, and had been fighting against the board’s recommendation to oust Takhar for months, to no avail:
Halston board member Harvey Weinstein said in a statement, “Sarah Jessica is a huge supporter of Bonnie’s, but it was time to change direction. It was the rest of the board that made the decision. No one was more steadfast to Bonnie than Sarah Jessica.”
What this emotional firing means for Jessica Parker’s tenure at Halston remains to be seen, but a company insider says that Takhar is already looking for a new job — her resume, which includes stints at Jimmy Choo, Donna Karan and Earl Jeans — was seen on an office printer last week.
