As you probably know, Britney Spears is in the midst of a comeback. She released Femme Fatale in March, and covered V that same month. Now she’s Harper’s Bazaar‘s June cover girl, and we have some thoughts!
First of all, we (fine, I) LOVE Femme Fatale. It’s like cotton candy in album form. It is so light, so airy, but so DELICIOUS. I can’t stop listening to it (or if we’re still going with the cotton candy metaphor, eating it). It makes me want to dance so hard! For this reason, I’m really rooting for Brit to succeed. She brings me such joy, so I only want the same for her, you know?
So, the cover. It’s pretty! But kind of boring? Alexi Lubomirski shot the pop star in a white Bill Blass gown against a white background, and even the teasers make her feel incidental: the phrase “Britney’s Back” is rendered in the smallest font on the entire cover. Oh girl, we feel for you! For one of the photos in the inside spread, Brit is wearing a pretty major Dolce & Gabbana star-print dress. However, she looks vacant — most likely not through any fault of Bazaar‘s, sadly.
The accompanying interview is worth a read, because Britney talks about THE FASHION. Specifically, she says her best look was at the 2002 Grammys and her worst was at the 2000 Billboard Music Awards. And we would probably agree! Also, she likes ponytails and whipping her hair. A girl after our own heart!
