At this point, we really don’t know what to do with Britney Spears. On the one hand, she’ll always have a place in our hearts as a game-changing diva, and her third (or fourth?) fits-and-starts comeback will officially begin on an upcoming episode of Glee.
But in the middle of all that personal and career drama, Britney found time to meet up with Japan’s answer to Andy Warhol, Takashi Murakami, and shoot a cover story for Pop Magazine.
The good people at Grazia got a sneak peak at the photos, which feature a hyper-stylized — and we’re guessing heavily photoshopped — version of Brit in a wedding dress wearing a backpack and ankle socks. Ms. Spears told the magazine that working with Murakami was a delight:
“I especially liked how he took high-end fashion and incorporated it with Japanese manga. We looked at a lot of characters and artwork before we shot, so I could get a feel for what he was looking for. I was in Japan on my past promo tour, and I loved it!”
Spears later tweeted that she was “so excited for you guys to see my POP Magazine Cover shoot.” And we can see why — the last time she was on the cover of a magazine, they brutally disfigured her neck.
If this really is the beginning of Britney’s comeback, we can only say mazel tov. We want our star back! We just hope nothing goes wrong this time.
