We’ll admit it: we can never get enough of Marc Jacob’s. We blushed when we stumbled upon the racy ad for his BANG cologne, were amused by the alter-ego personality of 1987 Marc, and felt okay about our vanity woes when he admitted to relieving his thinning mane by getting hair transplants.
But before we could even recollect our melting hearts, Daily Front Row drew our attention to Jacob’s recent philanthropic effort: granting California-native Jennifer Ridgley her wish of spending a dream day with the designer himself!
This dream turned into reality for Ridgley a year after she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a cancer that originates from the mutation of white blood cells called lymphocytes. While undergoing recent chemotherapy and radiation treatment, Ridgley’s social worker set her up with Kids Wish Network, an organization that focuses on granting wishes to terminally ill youth. With no hesitation, Ridgley asked to meet her favorite designer, who she feels has “some serious talent.”
A quick flight to New York and Ridgley became the envy of fashionistas around the world. After a beauty treatment at Bergdorf Goodman, Ridgley met with Marc, who gave her the all-access tour of his Marc Jacobs showroom. The pair then watched a recording of the Fall 2010 runway show before whisking away in a taxi to do some shopping at a Marc by Marc Jacobs store, in which the designer himself played stylist with some of her personal picks. Talk about star treatment!
Ridgley recapped her fairy tale day by stating, “To say I was excited would be an understatement.” To make the transition from your lowest low to cloud nine within a year’s span, we couldn’t agree more with her words.
