PHOTOS: Royals In Onesies And Problematic Peplum At Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival is winding down, but we’re holding on to its unparalleled fashion for as long as we can. In our latest round-up, we find that Nicole Kidman has taken the cake for the most showstopping moment, while Rosario Dawson made us think twice about the peplum.

At the premiere for Nebraska, Kidman hit the red carpet in the Valentino Spring 2013 Couture confection that Anne Hathaway was supposed to wear to the Oscars. The sweeping gown’s high-neck was perfectly-suited to Kidman’s statuesque frame while the cream lace overlay complemented her alabaster complexion. Heidi Klum was also on hand, but went for a much sexier look in a Swarovski-studded asymmetrical gown by Versace, which boasted a thigh-high slit — something that didn’t surprise us at all.

For the La Vie D’Adele photocall, two of the film’s young stars, Lea Seydoux and Adele Exarchopoulos left the gowns at home and opted for flirty hemlines. Seydoux was a spring vision in a floral bustier dress by Dolce & Gabbana while Exarchopoulos sported a fringed black Alaia dress, with subtle perforation at the waist.

We’re not 100% on this but we think we had our first royal-in-a-onesie sighting with Princess Charlene of Monaco in a Roberto Cavalli jumpsuit. As if that wasn’t scandalous enough, the halter top boasted a particularly plunging neckline.

Last, and let’s face it, least was Dawson in a bright magenta peplum dress. While we’ve seen the peplum work wonders on many occasions, we felt this design was rather ill-fitting and didn’t do the star justice. Or perhaps, we’re just being picky and hoped she would don something more fantastical, like she did at the Cleopatra premiere. It is Cannes, after all.
