Cara Delevingne’s ubiquity has earned her more than a few Kate Moss comparisons, and now there might be one more parallel to add to the list. The 20-year-old was snapped by paparazzi in London this weekend dropping what The Sun refers to as “a packet of mysterious white powder.” It could have been cocaine, it could have been baking powder (she has taken up cooking recently, after all), and while there’s no way to know for sure, H&M is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter, since the model currently fronts their Divided campaign.
The tabloid published the photos of the errant baggie, along with one photographer’s tale of the incident:
“She was trying to get inside her house. She said, ‘I’ve lost my keys guys, I’ve lost my keys’. She was really giggly. She found it hilarious but her friend was really edgy about it. Suddenly Cara dropped something and bent over to pick it up. Very discreetly, she just put her foot on it and then rolled her handbag across so it looked like she was just kind of bending over. The friend kept saying, ‘Can you stop taking pictures?’ The friend definitely realised they were in trouble once that little packet had dropped on the ground.”
Trouble, indeed: H&M famously dropped Moss from her campaign in 2005 after photographs surfaced of the model allegedly snorting cocaine, citing a zero tolerance policy for drugs. Delevingne also mugs for DKNY and Burberry, and covers the debut issue of Miss Vogue this month. Do you think they’ll buy the baking powder excuse? Somehow we doubt it.
