Deets About Carine Roitfeld’s Second amfAR Fashion Show

Carine Roitfeld hosted a glitzy fashion show for amfAR’s Cinema Against AIDS Gala at the Cannes Film Festival last year, and she’s doing it again next month! So, what can we expect this time around?

While her debut show at the Cannes was comprised of all-black ensembles, Roitfeld is taking it one step further for the gala’s 20th anniversary. Drawing inspiration from the one and only Elizabeth Taylor, Roitfeld, with the help of Naomi Campbell, will only present gold gowns on the runway. Designers and fashion houses like Alexander McQueen, Tom Ford, Michael Kors, Versace, Burberry, and more are creating custom looks for the 40 or so models. Carine told WWD:

“I picked the gold theme because gold is extraordinary. Since it is the 20th year of this event, I thought people should walk away with an incredible memory. For me, this is really a tribute to Elizabeth Taylor. When you think of her in ‘Cleopatra,’ you have this very powerful image of gold and beauty.”

Needless to say, we’re pretty excited to see the pieces, but more so to see Campbell shut it down on the runway. Check out last year’s swanky gala, and watch the video below for her interview about CR Fashion Book:
