According to Fashionista, Roitfeld filed the trademark “Forgive Me” on January 19 for the “cosmetics and cleaning products” category. It was approved on September 27, so now the CR Book editor can slap her name onto things like perfume and laundry detergent. However, there’s currently a notice of possible opposition, which might mean that Roitfeld’s trademark is not yet official and is still pending.
In addition to “Forgive Me”, Roitfeld trademarked “Carine Roitfeld” back in 2010 for the same category, and as far as we can tell, she hasn’t created or sold anything under that particular trademark. Not that she has a lot of time on her hands to design anything — she’s got a makeup line with MAC, a new gig at Harper’s Bazaar, and her own glossy.
We can only guess what Roitfeld’s debut scent will smell like, but we’re just wondering — what’s up the name “Forgive Me”? Is she asking for forgiveness in advance for silly fragrance marketing? Time will tell.
