Carine Roitfeld just can’t quit magazining. The former Vogue Paris editor is plunging into the glossy world once more, this time on her own terms.
Back in June we yawned at rumors that Roitfeld would be launching her own fashion magazine, and we’re still not totally sold on just how groundbreaking this whole thing will be. Last week Roitfeld told Dazed Digital that she’s working on both clothing and cosmetics lines (“so my name could become a brand”). She also let it be known that she is “putting a dream team together to make…a really iconic magazine that’s fresh and exciting”.
And more details have emerged today! In an interview with L’Express, Roitfeld revealed that she wants the mag to be a quarterly, and will begin with a September 2012 issue. And it will be in English! She doesn’t want to compete with Vogue, and thinks her friends will help her project become a success. The million dollar question: does it have a name?
Yes. I cannot tell you. I’m trying to see if it’s not already filed, but I think it suits me — it’s pretty rock ‘n’ roll. I could call it Carine Roitfeld, like how Oprah Winfrey does and put me on the cover every month, but I’m not sure if this is what people expect.
