Carine Roitfeld‘s irreverence is the stuff of legend — not to mention the inspiration for the title of her 2011 coffee book. Her latest tongue-in-cheek endeavor is a Bruce Weber-lensed spread in the second issue of CR Fashion Book starring bikini bombshells Alessandra Ambrosio and Irina Shayk alongside none other than Big Ang, the brassy, big-chested, Staten Island-dwelling star of VH1‘s reality show Mob Wives.
Why Big Ang? Well, for the women’s issue of Ad Week, the former French Vogue editor talks about her new role as the global fashion director of Harper’s Bazaar, dishes on her dance obsession, and, yes, explains the thinking behind the unexpected casting choice:
“It was an idea of Bruce Weber. He will give you crazy ideas, and he knows I’m always going to love it. Bruce loves the idea of special people, and you discover that OK, Big Ang has big breasts, but she has such a big heart and is such a great person. We had everyone dancing together in Miami, and it was such a great day. Everyone had a crush on Big Ang! She looked hot, and she’s such a nice person. And you know, it’s good to have a different vision of fashion than just to be a very beautiful, skinny girl.”
Oh, what we would give to see Carine hanging with Big Ang and the gang. Would it be too much to ask her to make a Mob Wives cameo?
