It’s very possible that Carla Bruni is pregnant. The rumors are mounting and she’s been wearing a lot of loose clothing lately, but the French first lady is keeping mum. Yawn. The newest bit of pregnancy gossip is pretty great though: it’s been reported that Bruni dropped 300 euros on maternity clothes at an H&M in Paris. Who cares about this baby speculation…she shops at H&M!
As an FYI, 300 euros is equivalent to about $423. While that may seem like a lot to spend at the fast fashion chain, we’re guessing she stocked up on pregnancy basics all in one fell swoop. As much as we love H&M, we can understand the desire to go in, get what you need, and not head back for a while — especially if you’re high profile like Bruni. And shopping for maternity clothes at a store like H&M makes a lot of sense, given you can only wear them for a few months. Of course, H&M is keeping quiet: “We don’t usually comment on the private lives of our customers.”
Yeah yeah, but what did she buy?! H&M’s maternity line, Mama, is pretty small. Eight items show up on the US site, and only six on the French site. Perhaps Bruni is doing the cool mommy-to-be thing and buying cute clothes in bigger sizes? Or, you know, maybe she’s not pregnant at all. Regardless, first ladies sure do know what’s up when it comes to cheap and chic. Lest you forget, our very own Michelle Obama digs H&M, and Bruni has been known to dabble in Gap Kids.
