Cartier Celebrates Its New Watch Collection With A Delicious British Feast

There is no better way to celebrate a British-inspired watch in New York than by eating food prepared by the city’s favorite British chef.

Cartier employed the magnificent April Bloomfield to celebrate its new Tank Anglaise watch collection Tuesday evening. The Tank is a bona fide classic, and Cartier has whipped up several versions of the timepiece over the years. In 1989, the company premiered the Tank Américaine collection, while in 1996 the Tank Française debuted. This latest collection pays tribute to London. The watches — which are available in three sizes and three types of gold (with or without diamonds, naturally) — hit stores June 22nd, with prices starting at a cool $22,100.

Brit It girl Poppy Delevingne, a friend of the brand, was in attendance at the festive fete. Held on the 21st floor of the Chelsea Arts Tower’s Glass House, the views were as luxe as the watches. Cases filled with more than a century’s worth of Tanks lined the walls as we enjoyed a four-course English feast prepared by Bloomfield.

“I love this lady, and I hate this lady. I hate her because now I can’t brag about how superior the French cuisine is,” Cartier North America CEO Emmanuel Perrin joked during the meal. And what a meal it was! Game bird pate, spring vegetable soup, and what must be the most tender dry-aged rib of beef in the entire world were served, with buttermilk panna cotta topped with rhubarb and strawberry for dessert.
