When it comes to stopping counterfeit goods, the CFDA and eBay’s You Can’t Fake Fashion campaign is no joke. Since 2011, the CFDA and eBay have been selling one-of-a-kind bags to benefit the CFDA Foundation, which aims to fight fakes, and in turn, support authentic wares. This year marks the initiative’s first ever auction, and the collection features custom canvas styles from 90 designers, including Diane von Furstenberg, Ralph Lauren, Anna Sui, and more. Of course, we’ve got a preview of every single one right here.
Each bag from the collection is up for auction on eBay right now and bidding starts at $100, while a standard canvas tote with a cross body strap is available for a “Buy It Now” price of $50. The starting price for the designer styles may seem steep, but keep in mind that all the proceeds from the sale go to support a fantastic cause. Not to mention that bags are also super cute — designers like Judith Leiber and Georgina Chapman of Marchesa created little minauderies, while Prabal Gurung embellished his with black lucite panels, and Charlotte Ronson turned her design into a convertible backpack. We’re suckers for backpacks!
In a press release, the CFDA’s chief executive officer Steven Kolb wrote:
“Educating shoppers about the dangers of counterfeits is now more important than ever, and it’s an issue that’s incredibly important to both eBay and CFDA. With 90 designers on board this year, each customizing a bag as one-of-a-kind to show their support, eBay and CFDA are dedicated to protecting original design and the integrity of the fashion industry.”
