It’s getting towards the end of Fat December, and we’re all feeling a little sluggish both mentally and physically. But while this is a legitimate reason to help yourself to another slice of pie, it is not a reason to blatantly rip off someone else’s shoe designs because you can’t be arsed flexing your creative muscle.
We imagine one designer who is feeling especially non-jolly right now is Dukas. The Greece-based footwear company, which launched in 2003 and has been seen on the feet of Rihanna, and is understandably very proud of the wicked sexy butt-and-legs heel design it’s been using for years. And Dukas now has a new fan in the form of London’s Charlotte Olympia, AKA Charlotte Dellal, who has evidently been a little too inspired by the Greek god of shoes while sketching her Pre-Fall 20124 collection.
Yikes. That’s Dukas’ ‘Silhouette Anniversaire Poudre Rose’ heel, which retails for $774 USD, on the left, and Charlotte Olympia’s now-deleted Instagram picture on the right. It goes without saying that they are basically exactly the same. Dukas is understandably not cool with this and posted this picture to Facebook with the comment, “IT IS FLATTERING TO INSPIRE FAMOUS DESIGNERS! NO COMMENTS…” No one from Charlotte Olympia has commented on the issue, which kind of seems smart considering things could get very legal very quickly.
