Esquire’s Female Readers Love Christina Hendricks

The days of stick thin models and celebrities are running slim. In the wake of the CFDA’s desire to resize the sample size in the modeling industry, it seems that fuller figured women are growing in popularity. Stars like Kim Kardashian and Crystal Renn have recently gone nude for Harper’s Bazaar and French Vogue, respectively, in an undeniable celebration of real women -– a.k.a. women who come in different shapes and sizes.

Like most other voluptuous celebrities, “Mad Men” star Christina Hendricks has long been criticized for her curves. But I am pretty sure that those days are over.

And Esquire clearly agrees. They recently gave Ms. Hendricks the title of “Best Looking Woman”, who graces the May cover for the men’s magazine, looking stunning and sexy in a little black dress. Based on a survey in which 10,000 women voted for who they thought was the “Best Looking Woman,” Hendricks beat out both Adriana Lima (17%) and Megan Fox (14%), clearly putting curves back on the sexy map –- and we like it!

The most interesting aspect of the whole thing might be that it was women who voted, and a men’s magazine who listened. How long until Hendricks earns a spot on the cover of Vogue? Or Elle? Or any other high-fashion and female-centric mag.

In the meantime: way to go, Esquire.
