For the record, we wouldn’t mind mingling with Jason Wu and Christy Turlington over white wine and chicken satay, should they ever recreate the designer’s fall campaign. Wu tapped the storied supermodel and opted to set the scene at legendary Uptown eatery, Mr. Chow, which Hubert de Givenchy once described as a “precious jewel box.”
Photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin captured Turlington resting her arm and chin upon Wu’s head inside one of the restaurant’s opulent booths. The pair looks at ease, despite only having met at the shoot.
“I’ve been a huge fan of Christy and was so delighted that she agreed to appear in my fall campaign,” Wu told WWD. “She brings such inimitable charisma and chic to the image.”
At 44 years old, Turlington is proving that age ain’t no thang and that she, along with the other ’90s Trinity members Naomi Campbell and Linda Evangelista, have some serious staying power. Turlie, as her close fashion playfellows used to call her, can also be found on the July issue of Harper’s BAZAAR. We advise you not to miss it, considering that supermodels don’t often get the cover girl treatment. These days, it’s all about the celebrities and reality show stars. Sigh.
UPDATE: She now has a place in the official comeback hall of fame, AKA Prada’s stark-luxe Fall 2013 campaign. Turlington stars alongside other established and elusive faces including Catherine McNeil, Fei Fei Sun and Freja Beha Erichsen. See the Steven Meisel-lensed images here if you’re ready to join us in being so over summer already.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
