Cosmopolitan Lands A Reality Show On CBS

Joanna Coles has only been the editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan for about four months, but she has already landed the magazine a reality television gig on CBS in February.

The Job is a new weekly series hosted by journalist Lisa Ling in which five contestants compete for a dream job in various American companies, and each episode will showcase a new group of contestants. The premiere will have people competing for an assistant manager position at the Palm Restaurant Group, and the second will feature contestants on the hunt for an editorial assistant job at Cosmo. The episode will air February 15 at 8 PM ET, which is right after New York Fashion Week, which means it will undoubtedly be the topic of conversations at all the post-NYFW parties.

Coles was connected to one of the show’s producers, Michael Davies, through her talent agency, WME. He told WWD: “They knew I was doing the show and they knew she’d be interested.” The second producer, Mark Burnett, also has a partnership with Hearst, making Coles and Cosmo a logical choice. She explained: “I knew I’d be changing staffs and I’d have jobs.” Well, duh, she pretty much fired everyone on staff.

Aspiring editorial assistants may want to familiarize themselves with Stylista’s Johanna Cox.
