In a country whose token celebrities tend to be either royals or WAGs, its no surprise that the guests at London’s Dark Knight Rises premiere last night ran the gamut from the pinnacle of chic to the downright vulgar.
Marion Cotillard slew the competition in a strapless dress from Raf Simons‘ first ever Dior Couture show. Her tangerine bodice and persimmon pumps added the perfect dash of color under what looked to be rather grey skies. Anne Hathaway‘s beaded Gucci column was likewise elegant, though it didn’t quite measure up to Tuesday’s knockout number from Prabal Gurung. Our vote for the evening’s most enviable accessories has to go to Joanna Newsom — the first being our dearly departed SNL cast member Andy Samberg and the second being those Miu Miu pumps we’ve been coveting for months. It’s a good thing we like her so much, otherwise we just might have to hate her.
And on the other side of the spectrum we have heiress Tamara Ecclestone, whose less-than-elegant outfit was also less-than-original. You may recognize her Versace dress from the GQ party in Milan last month when it covered Kate Upton‘s much-discussed body, while the Louboutin heels are a repeat from Cotillard’s NYC premiere ensemble. You know, just in case you needed proof that even billionaires can look cheap.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
