We were so, so hoping to see Tilda Swinton arrive at last night’s “David Bowie Is” exhibit opening decked out in her Thin White Duke or Ziggy Stardust finest, but alas, the rumors that she would be impersonating the pop star turned out to be false, and the actress turned up on the red carpet at the Victoria and Albert Museum looking, well, like Tilda Swinton. Not that that’s a far cry from Bowie, but still.
Also channeling (but not impersonating) the man of the hour was La Roux’s Elly Jackson, who WWD reports was sporting a vintage YSL jacket as a nod to Bowie’s signature mid-seventies look.
They were joined by art and fashion insiders like Tracey Emin, Erdem Moralioglu, Caroline Sieber, and Pixie Geldof. But while no one looked too shabby, the red carpet outfits couldn’t hold a candle to the iconic fashions inside.
See all of the arrivals and get a peek inside the exhibit in the gallery and video below:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
