It turns out this season’s coolest fashion collaboration isn’t something you can wear — it’s Sean Combs‘ new album Last Train To Paris. Why? Its tracks feature nods of approval from people like Anna Wintour, Andre Leon Talley and Marc Jacobs. Somewhere in the world, Kanye West is self flagellating right now.
The album is said to have been inspired by Diddy’s February Vogue spread with Natalia Vodianova, which takes place on (you guessed it) a train going to Paris. Several other designers have speaking roles, including Isaac Mizrahi, Zac Posen and Tommy Hilfiger, who cautions on track 4 (called Repercaution [sic]) “The last train to Paris is coming. Get on or get off.” Talley does a reading by author James Baldwin on the first track (he’s literally the first thing you hear on the album), while Wintour chimes in on the second song, “This is Anna Wintour from Vogue magazine. You are now listening to the Last Train to Paris.”
We’re listening to the album right now, and for all its fashion world love (which Diddy collected during fashion week at his New York studio) we don’t really like it as much as we did his previous efforts. Still, it says a lot that Wintour would host a decidedly not chic Soundcloud player with those preview tracks on Vogue.com. Head on over there, take a listen, and tell us whether you’ll be buying this album when it drops on Dec. 14.
