We’re always ready to wax poetic about our love for Raf Simons‘ first ready-to-wear collection for Christian Dior, and Jil Sander‘s campaigns during the designer’s tenure at the house are minimalist perfection. So we’re sad to say this season’s Dior ads just aren’t doing it for us.
They’re pretty, light, and airy, just like the chiffon-adorned runway show, but lack a certain….oomph. To shoot the campaign, Simons imported his old mainstay photographer Willy Vanderperre, along with a cast of models including Daria Strokous, Marie Piovesan, and Diane Conterato.
It might be a different story in print, but on the screen you have to squint to see the clothes, and even more so to see the moneymaking accessories! (You can see the full-size images here.) What do you think? Are the ads a refreshing change for Dior? Or do they fall a little flat?
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
