Come Spring 2014, Donna Karan won’t just be tempting you with her wares, but also a glamorous city getaway in Bridgehampton.
Karan and her daughter Gabby have invested in a multimillion-dollar hotel called The Enclave Inn and plan to give it a modern makeover in the same signature style that put the designer on the map. While it may seem like foreign territory for the fashion titan, all you have to do is look at her property records to know that her life and capital is very much invested in the ritzy South Fork of Long Island. She owns a row of four beachside mansions worth $20 million, while Gabby owns Sag Harbor restaurant Tutto Il Giorno and a club in South Hampton. Shall we brace ourselves for a takeover?
The mother Karan recently referenced her love of the Hamptons on her website:
“For me, summers have always been about the beach — the sky and ocean, the white clouds, rich sands, the wind playing on fabric. Everywhere I look I find inspiration. As a New Yorker, my home in East Hampton represents the calm in the chaos of city living. The house is always filled with family and friends, taking long walks, barbecuing and being near, in or on the water.”
While the resort spreads over 11-and-a-half acres with a pool and room for a tennis court, there are only 10 rooms. But if Karan’s zen nature has taught us anything, it’s that patience is a virtue.
