Diane von Furstenburg Marks 40 Years With Wrap Dress Clone Army

Unless you run into Beyoncé at Walmart (again), the only two parts of your weekend that could possibly warrant caps lock are 1) the redesign of your favorite website and 2) an exhibition of 200 Diane von Furstenberg wrap dresses.

The trailblazing designer opened her retrospective at LACMA’s Wilshire May Co. building on Saturday night to great fanfare and — we presume — uppercase-letter-only reactions from the many bloggers, editors and, uh, TV personalities in attendance. An unspeakably early call time may have kept us from catching more of live stream hosted by Andy Cohen and CocoMost Likely to Invent Something” Rocha, but you can hear Allison Williamspositively insightful answers here and admire Gwyneth’s youthful décolletage below.

For the full “Journey of a Dress” experience, you’ll have to hightail it to LA, but that isn’t such a crazy notion when you consider the Warhol prints, the DvF clone army, the Helmut Newton portraits and, oh yeah, the cultural significance.
