Six-year-old pageant circuit retiree Eden Wood stopped by The View this morning to perform her polarizing single, “Cutie Patootie” and assure Barbara Walters that she is, in fact, a happy child.
Wood was accompanied by her mother, Mickie, who responded emphatically to concerns that raising her daughter to be the next Miley Cyrus may not be the best parenting tactic. While Walters, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, and Sherri Shepherd all seemed somewhat mollified by Mickie and Eden’s responses, our favorite part might be seeing Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar’s faces as they watched Eden perform. Stone-faced doesn’t quite do them justice.
Eden, for her part, seems happy and somewhat normal — she has two pet chickens named Funny and Crazy! — albeit more than a little bit coached. At only six, it’s probably impossible for her to really wrap her head around the idea of a “career” let alone the definition of “superstardom,” so the expectations of any interview are a little unfair. But that’s an equally good argument against her pursuing said career in the first place.
