Fashion loves its outliers — the girls who you wouldn’t define as beautiful on a city street, but who come alive for the camera, and make you stop and look twice at an ad. Which is why one designer has set his sights on Elisany Silva, a 14-year-old girl from Brazil who just so happens to be one of the tallest teens in the world.
Silva is six feet, nine inches tall — and still growing. While most of the information we can find on her is in Portuguese, all of the articles offer the same tidbit: Silva will be making her catwalk debut in a bridal show in Belem, Brazil.
Feel free to call us pessimists: we can’t help but think that she was cast purely for shock value. As much as fashion loves its tall girls, fashion also loves its narrow definitions of beauty. “Tall” tops out at someone like Karlie Kloss, who is somewhere between 5’11” and 6’1″, depending on who you ask.
But Silva is a beautiful girl with enviable Brazilian bone structure — and we hope, if modeling is what she wants to do, she makes it far.
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
This is what appears to be a Brazilian news story on Elisany Silva. Anyone speak portuguese?
