Two years ago, Emma Watson shocked everyone by chopping off her Hermione Granger-branded locks. She’s kept the short ‘do since then, and in the October issue of Glamour, she has some choice words for dudes who don’t like it.
In the issue, Watson gets dolled up in Nina Ricci, McQ Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, and Zadig & Voltaire in the Alexei Hay-lensed spread, and her strands are worked into a texturized bob. Watson’s hair has been styled every which way for red carpet events and magazine spreads, and while we’ve loved every single look, she tells Glamour that not everyone likes it as much. Thankfully, no one called her a lesbian this time:
“Of course, men like long hair. There’s no two ways about it. The majority of the boys around me were like, ‘Why did you do that? That’s such an error.’ And I was like, ‘Well, honestly, I don’t really care what you think!’ I’ve never felt so confident as I did with short hair—I felt really good in my own skin.”
You tell ’em, girl!
Watson is also a regular on the best dressed list (no, really, she werks it every time), but getting there required the help of a stylist:
“When I was younger, I used to do it all myself, but I’ve had to get help because it’s gotten to a stage where I can’t show up in my Converses or whatever I bought from High Street. And just practically, these gowns are ridiculous. You’re being photographed from every angle, so not only do you have to consider how the thing looks, but whether you’re going to be able to sit in it and whether people are going to be able to see up your skirt.”
Anyway, take a peek at Watson’s Glamour spread:
this is some kind of spaceship or something.
