A sneak preview of the second issue of CR Fashion Book wasn’t enough for you, eh? Not to worry. American fashion designer Rick Owens stepped behind the camera lens, at Carine Roitfeld’s request, to shoot his first ever editorial for the magazine, and we have an exclusive look at the resulting spread.
For Roitfeld, the decision was an easy one: “Rick is a great artist and I was as excited to see his photos as I am when I go to see one of his shows,” she told us. “I think the result is amazing and totally fits the issue. A first appearance is what I always love — ‘une premiere fois’!”
The images are characteristic of Owens’ dark and sometimes brutal aesthetic: black models against white backdrops in sculptural poses decked out in heavy metallic cuff bracelets, along with some interesting photoshop splicing. But we think he did a pretty good job melding his own vision with the overall “Dance” theme of the issue — no small feat for a designer whose clothes are more suited to an Edgar Allan Poe story than the stage of the Grand Ballet.

this is some kind of spaceship or something.
