Top 5 Most Fashionable Music Videos

We love MTV for bringing us the Video Music Awards and the MTV Movie Awards, both of which allow stars to dress a little edgier than usual. They brought us Whitney, introduced us to Kelly Cutrone, and of course — most importantly — basically invented the idea of the music videos.

While the importance of music videos may be fading — don’t bring the subject up with Kanye — we still pay attention to them. Keep your fingers crossed – we think Beyonce and Lady Gaga could save the lost art form and help reintroduce it into popular culture.

Some of our favorite fashion moments have come from the crazy and inventive music video plots. Some are funny, others more couture, but all scream fashion, undoubtedly. Here is our list of the top 5 most fashionable music videos of all time.

Vogue, Madonna
Greta Garbo and Monroe, Deitrich and DiMaggio, Marlon Brando, Jimmy Dean…On the cover of a magazine.

Freedom, George Michael

Telephone, Lady Gaga
Boy, the way you blowin’ up my phone won’t make me leave no faster. Put my coat on faster. Leave my girls no faster.

Girls on Film, Duran Duran
Lipstick cherry all over the lens as she’s falling…

We’d also like to pay tribute to the following music videos, all of which impressed us, fashionably speaking.

Smells Like Teen Spirit, Nirvana
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Cyndi Lauper
Hey Ya, Outkast
Sweet Dreams, Eurythmics
Too Funky, George Michael
