The Daily Front Row, a news blog and publication most known for its oversized print magazine during New York Fashion Week, just used the headline, “Michael Pitt Takes A Bullett,” to tout an obviously important story about said actor covering Bullett magazine. Come on, people.
Despite last week’s tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, in which a gunman killed 20 elementary school children and six staff members, and the ongoing discussion about gun control laws in the United States, a writer for the site tried to be punny and decided to do a play on words on the magazine’s title. Not only does the headline not make sense, but in light of the situation at hand, was unnecessary and incredibly inappropriate. The writer obviously did not learn from Kmart, Kenneth Cole, or Celeboutique‘s mistakes.
We’re adding this headline to the list of tone-deaf judgements made by the fashion industry during times of tragedy. This is why everyone needs an editor. Or rather, a good editor.
