In the past year, the world’s 10 top-earning models made a combined $112 million. $45 million of that was made by Gisele Bündchen alone.
Of course, much of this bank comes by way of endorsements, and Gisele’s new Pantene contract has her making serious dough. Heidi Klum is number two on the list (having earned less than half of what Gisele did, by the way) and Kate Moss is number three. It’s interesting to note the disparity between the first model on the list (Gisele) and the last (Candice Swanepoel) is $42 million. Also, last year the top 10 only made a combined $86.5 million. Our power grid’s top model, Naomi Campbell, failed to make the list.
Other things of note: a whole lot of these top-earners are or were Victoria’s Secret models. Three of them happen to be Brazilian (Gisele, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Adriana Lima)! Three are on Kanye‘s ode to models rap! Also, Swanepoel and Lara Stone replaced baby-having models Miranda Kerr and Doutzen Kroes this year.
Here is the Forbes list:
1. Gisele Bündchen, $45 million
2. Heidi Klum, $20 million
3. Kate Moss, $13.5 million
4. Adriana Lima, $8 million
5. Alessandra Ambrosio, $5 million
6. Daria Werbowy, $4.5 million
7. Lara Stone, $4.5 million
8. Carolyn Murphy, $4.3 million
9. Natalia Vodianova, $4 million
10. Candice Swanepoel, $3 million
Think becoming a model is the best way to get rich? Think again. Top models are getting paid the big bucks, but newbies are making way less than they did before the recession.
