The controversies surrounding Olympic gold medalist Gabby Douglas‘s look have not stopped. First, it was the 16-year-old’s hair, and now, it’s her nose.
In a wide-ranging interview with Vanity Fair, the teen sensation reveals that she had a hard time training at her first gym Excalibur Gymnastics in Virginia. She explains that in 2010, she was called a slave by another gymnast and that her clothes were missing after a workout session (“You don’t actually take by mistake someone’s clothes.”). The worst and most hurtful incident was when an Excalibur staffer told Douglas that she should think about getting reconstructive surgery on her flat nose.
Excalibur’s staff denies these allegations, and says that Douglas never reported any of the incidents. Douglas’s mother Natalie Hawkins is also “flabbergasted” by the claims, but admits that her daughter tends to keep things to herself.
For what it’s worth, we think Douglas’s hair, nose, and everything else is amazing just the way they are. And we’re pretty sure those other nasty gymnasts don’t have gold medals.
