We have to wonder if even the most dedicated little monsters aren’t at least a little grossed out by this. Lady Gaga’s unforgettable meat dress will be put on display today, joining Billie Holiday’s fur stole and Britney Spears’ VMA outfit, in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s “Women Who Rock” exhibit.
The dress, which Gaga wore to the MTV Video Music Awards last September, spent the past year in a meat locker and was recently dried into beef jerky by Californian taxidermists, reports the Washington Post. If that isn’t gross enough, the mother monster’s famous frock had to be painted over to look “fresh” because, as the museum’s spokeswoman said, it had acquired a “dark, beef jerky” coloring. Looks like David Letterman was wrong last month when he refused to believe the infamous outfit was being jerked, driving Gaga to rip up and eat his notes out of frustration.
The meat dress, designed by Franc Fernandez, is not the only item from Gaga’s collection in the exhibit, but it’s by far the most notorious item of her clothing (if we can even call it that) featured.
