New Yorkers, you now have an alternative to getting your Yayoi Kusama fix by waiting in line at the “I Who have Arrived in Heaven” exhibit. While you won’t get an epic selfie inside of her mesmerizing Infinity Rooms, the new issue of W will provide you with George Clooney as a human art installation. Kusama put her magic, polka-dotted touch on Clooney in a custom Giorgio Armani suit, as he smizes before an identical polka-dot background. The spread, shot by Emma Summerton and styled by Michael Kucmeroski, also stars Tracey Emin, Marilyn Minter, Catherine Opie, and Karen Kilimnik.
Many might be perplexed by Clooney’s nose-dive into the art world, but his latest film The Monuments Men — which he directs and stars in — is about a team of art historians, museum directors, and curators saving works stolen by Adolf Hitler during World War II. In addition to the unrivaled imagery, the actors interview if full of charm. He even admits to crushing on the ‘elegant’ Audrey Hepburn as a child.
We won’t be happy until we’ve smacked this issue down on our coffee table, and imagine you might be feeling a similar longing. Until then, get familiar with the trippy teaser images and view the entire spread here.
