We’re not proud of being tempted to launch a diatribe against a bunch of 12-year-olds, but when they take to Instagram to criticize Georgia May Jagger’s gap-toothed grin, we get a little prickly. In an interview with Net-a-Porter’s The Edit, the model gets candid about her signature pearly whites, and explains that they’ve been a hot topic for fans and naysayers, and helped shed light on an important issue within the industry.
“There have been some interesting debates about my teeth on Instagram. When 12-year-olds tell you to go get braces and then someone answers, ‘Don’t tell her what to do’, that’s really sweet. There’s this whole idea of perfection [in modeling]. What younger girls don’t realize is that these girls do have problems. It’s good for people to realize everyone is human.”
The supremely-cool rock scion has come to be one of our favorite models, and her imperfections are what makes her so fresh. However, while she stands by her signature, she admits it’s still the source of some adorably misguided insecurity.
“I still worry I’m going to look weird as I get older,” she explained. “I’ll be a weird old woman with scary teeth.”
It’s a ludicrous thought to be begin with, but when you consider that Lauren Hutton is sporting the same look at 69-years-old and is still a total fox, we think that Jagger has no reason to fret. Besides, when it’s Mick Jagger and Jerry Hall who configured your genetic code, good looks are a lifelong given.
