Anna Wintour Wore a Giant Furry Mural to Woo Lena Dunham

Most women opt for a slinky red dress when attempting to exert the full force of their feminine wiles, but you don’t climb to the top of the Vogue ladder by following tradition. And Anna Wintour,  who apparently wants the upper-half of Girls creator Lena Dunham‘s torso to grace the front of her magazine, is not most women anyway.

For the next stage in her pursuit of the younger actress, Wintour opted for one of the more graphic of Prada‘s furry Spring 2014 mural coats. At first it seems an odd, even potentially unflattering choice for the editrix, but there’s always a method to her madness. Firstly there’s feminism, which is something both Dunham and Miuccia Prada feel very strongly about, and second there are health concerns, considering a glacial polar vortex is currently descending upon New York City.

Among the coatless plebes accompanying Wintour on the red carpet were Karen Elson, Karlie Kloss, Kim Gordon and Jenna Lyons, about 50% of whom have guest appearances in the show’s new season. See what they wore below.
