Like ‘fetch’ and Segways, Google Glass is something that, even if it does happen, will never really ‘happen’. But lately Vogue has been testing the waters of weird accessories, and because no one asked for it, here’s that six-page spread featuring Raquel Zimmermann traversing post-apocalyptic landscapes in the controversial eyewear.
When Anna Wintour gave us a preview yesterday we thought it might have been an ad for the creepy uncle of the wearable tech sphere. A little damage control after Coco Rocha so tactfully cut them down back in July. But it isn’t! It’s Vogue really trying to make Google Glass happen happen, with the aid of some $45,000 Oscar de la Renta coats and $2,300 leather turtlenecks by Gucci.
On a positive not, the photographs are stunning – the shoulders-down styling is ace, and late architect Robert Bruno’s rusting experimental house near Lubbock, Texas makes for a breathtaking backdrop. And at least it’s not Yahoo Glass.
